As Sunday morning atheists

we pray

to one another’s bodies

minds and hearts

the sun to hide the Monday moon

although we know

our love does not affect

the motions of the sun

the moon and earth

emotions make ellipses

round the truth

too close to see

but felt

as now our bodies

cover one another’s light

   each revealing atmospheres of heaven.
